Belle Epoque

If we consider the success of this pattern, it has to be the finest silverware which aimed for the future from the age of Art deco...

It was Gustav Elsaß who created the masterpiece "Belle Epoque", which appeared for the first time in 1930. Nowadays, it is the preferred choice of German embassies when it comes to cutlery. Elsaß was employed at Koch & Bergfeld's silverware workshop as head of the Design Office from 1909 to 1945. His design was preceded by lengthy journeys and extensive research – above all in Scandinavia. His task was to come up with a model that would match the success of the classic "Spaten" pattern – something he managed to achieve...

Elsaß has given "his" cutlery a wonderful linearity that is typical of Art deco in conjunction with cuff-like detailing at the top of the handle and the graduated end at the bottom. This polished design in sterling silver emphasises the delicacy and elegance of this silverware, which will enhance any table and delight users with the smooth feel of its gleaming finish in their hand.
